Personal Story

Professor (Dr.) Bidhan C. Das graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1992 and has since dedicated his career to hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplant surgery.

After finishing his internship, he specialized in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. In 1995 he received the scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Japan, under which he completed his PhD in Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery in 2000 from Mie University School of Medicine, Japan. In 2005 he completed his FCPS in General Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. Practising general, laparoscopic and hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery since 2001, he has performed Whipple’s procedure, distal and total pancreatectomy, hepatectomies, biliary reconstruction, gastrectomies and a wide range of general surgical operations over more than 20 years. He has worked across medical colleges, corporate hospitals and universities at home and abroad, and trained in liver transplantation in Japan and India. He has published more than 40 original articles in prestigious international journals.
